Try a fictional sample:

Works with text PDFs that have Date, Description, Paid in / Paid out (or Amount) and Balance columns. Scanned or photographed statements are not supported yet. The samples are fictional test data.

Nationwide current account statements are in beta: we haven’t tested a real one yet. Nationwide is a building society rather than a bank, but its current account statements work the same way, with a running balance the converter can check every row against.

How to download your Nationwide statement as a PDF

  1. Log in to Nationwide’s Internet Bank.
  2. Select the current account and look for Statements or View statements.
  3. Choose the statement and save it as a PDF.
  4. The Nationwide app may also offer statements from the account screen; save the PDF to your device.

Savings account statements are usually less frequent and simpler. They can be converted too, but most people need the current account.

Menu names change from time to time and can differ between the app and the website. If you can’t find statements, search for “statements” in the app or online banking help.

What to check on your Nationwide statement

Check your statement for a date column, a description, money in and money out columns (or a single amount column) and a running balance. The converter finds columns by their headings, so the order they are printed in doesn’t matter. If the column headings aren’t recognised, no transactions will be found; a layout report from the converter lets us add them.

Which export to choose

Most Nationwide customers want the CSV for Excel. Choose Xero or QuickBooks only if you keep the account in accounting software.

Common issues with Nationwide statements

Support status: beta

StatementToCSV reads statements by their columns, not with a fixed template for each bank, so some Nationwide statements may already convert. But we haven’t yet tested a real Nationwide statement, so we don’t claim support. Verified means every extracted row adds up to the balances printed on the statement. If you don’t see Verified, the converter shows you where the balances stopped adding up.

You can help: click Help us support this layout under the result. It creates a report of the statement’s layout in your browser, with every name, amount, reference and account number replaced by x and 1. Email it to support@statementtocsv.co.uk. When Nationwide is tested, it will be announced on the updates page.
