Try a fictional sample:

Works with text PDFs that have Date, Description, Paid in / Paid out (or Amount) and Balance columns. Scanned or photographed statements are not supported yet. The samples are fictional test data.

NatWest statements have been tested with real statements, and convert with every balance checked. NatWest prints a running balance on each line, which makes its statements well suited to a row-by-row check: if a single transaction were misread, the converter would point to it immediately.

How to download your NatWest statement as a PDF

  1. Log in to NatWest online banking and choose the account.
  2. Open Statements (it may sit under an account options or documents menu).
  3. Pick the statement period and download the PDF. Repeat for each month you need.
  4. In the NatWest app, statements can usually be found from the account screen under Statements, where the PDF can be saved or shared.

If a statement isn’t available to download, NatWest can usually provide copies of older statements on request.

Menu names change from time to time and can differ between the app and the website. If you can’t find statements, search for “statements” in the app or online banking help.

What a NatWest statement looks like

NatWest statements usually list Date, Description, Paid In, Withdrawn and Balance, with “Brought forward” at the top of each page. The converter reads “Withdrawn” as money out and skips the brought-forward lines, which aren’t transactions.

Which export to choose

Personal customers usually want the CSV for Excel. If you keep a NatWest business account in Xero or QuickBooks, choose that layout so the money in and out become a single signed amount column.

Common issues with NatWest statements

Support status: tested

We have converted real NatWest statements and checked every row against their printed balances. Banks change their statement designs from time to time, so each conversion is still checked: if a future NatWest layout doesn’t read correctly, the balance check will show it, and the “Help us support this layout” button lets you send us an anonymised report.

StatementToCSV is independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by NatWest. The name is used only to describe the statements the converter reads.

Questions people ask

Does StatementToCSV work with NatWest statements?

Yes. NatWest is one of the three layouts tested on real statements. Each conversion is still checked against the statement’s own balances.

Do RBS statements work the same way?

RBS is part of NatWest Group, and its statements are likely to look similar. We haven’t tested a real RBS statement yet, so RBS is listed as beta. See our RBS page.

Can I convert a NatWest credit card statement?

Credit card statements are laid out differently from current accounts and haven’t been tested. Try one; the check will show whether it read correctly.
