Try a fictional sample:

Works with text PDFs that have Date, Description, Paid in / Paid out (or Amount) and Balance columns. Scanned or photographed statements are not supported yet. The samples are fictional test data.

Halifax is in beta: we haven’t tested a real Halifax statement yet. Halifax belongs to Lloyds Banking Group, but each brand’s statements need their own testing. If your statement has a separate Type column with short codes, the converter joins those codes into the description rather than mistaking them for amounts.

How to download your Halifax statement as a PDF

  1. Sign in to Halifax online banking.
  2. Choose the account and look for View statements or Statements.
  3. Select the month and download or save the PDF.
  4. In the Halifax app, statements are usually available from the account’s options.

If you’ve had the account a long time, the earliest statements may only be available on paper.

Menu names change from time to time and can differ between the app and the website. If you can’t find statements, search for “statements” in the app or online banking help.

What to check on your Halifax statement

Check your statement for a date, a description, money in, money out and a running balance, and for a Type column. If codes such as DD, SO, FPI, FPO or DEB are printed, they end up in the description column of the CSV.

Which export to choose

Most Halifax customers want the CSV for Excel. Choose Xero or QuickBooks if you are a sole trader keeping the account in accounting software.

Common issues with Halifax statements

Support status: beta

StatementToCSV reads statements by their columns, not with a fixed template for each bank, so some Halifax statements may already convert. But we haven’t yet tested a real Halifax statement, so we don’t claim support. Verified means every extracted row adds up to the balances printed on the statement. If you don’t see Verified, the converter shows you where the balances stopped adding up.

You can help: click Help us support this layout under the result. It creates a report of the statement’s layout in your browser, with every name, amount, reference and account number replaced by x and 1. Email it to support@statementtocsv.co.uk. When Halifax is tested, it will be announced on the updates page.

StatementToCSV is independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by Halifax. The name is used only to describe the statements the converter reads.
